Royal Series - Sabrina (Flying Frog Illustration) FFI

What you are looking at here is a photographic scan of a real whimsical watercolor illustration painting by living contemporary human artist Holly Hawks.

Holly's unique watercolor style, has influence from animated film classics, as much as it has the playful contemporary flare of video game concept art, in a style of an underlying whimsical havoc, honed in with a blissful Neo Victorian aesthetic.

How does she do it? 

Holly first creates sketches from imagination in 0.3 NicPro BG1001 Blocky Gear graphite pencil, on Strathmore Mixed Media 400 Series Best paper. The graphite "led" inside of her pencil is Pentel super hi-polymer 3-4H. After the initial sketching with graphite pencil, Holly utilizes Micron archival pens to craft a fine ink line drawing. Once the ink has dried, she layers on watercolor transparency ink colors by Dr. Martin. Finally, finishing the piece with more line work, embellishments are made with additional Micron pens, of variable thickness, and she will occasionally embellish the piece with an acrylic gauche technique.
